Kristen Davern, Athletic Trainer
Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy

Kristen Davern is a certified athletic trainer for the Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy and serves as the head athletic trainer at Raytown High School. As a 2008 graduate of Raytown High School, Davern brings nearly 10 years of experience at the intercollegiate and secondary school level.
Before starting at Raytown High School in late 2020, Davern worked nearly three seasons as the head athletic trainer at Wyandotte High School. After graduate school, Davern spent six years at Southwest Baptist University prior to joining the athletic training team at Children’s Mercy.
An integral part of the Bluejays’ success, Davern’s priorities center around injury prevention, evaluation and treatment of the student-athletes and she can be found on the sidelines of the court, pitch or field. Davern is on site at practices, home contests and some road games during the school year, as well as camps and training throughout the summer providing care for the Bluejays. She is CPR/AED-certified and equipped with an AED at all times.
Davern earned her bachelor’s degree in athlete training at Southwest Baptist University and her master’s degree in Health and Human Performance at Fort Hays State University. In addition to athletic training, Davern’s professional interests include mental health, wellness and manual therapy techniques.
When she is not spending her time with her extended Raytown High School family, Davern enjoys kayaking, traveling, spending time with her kids and sitting around a fire with friends.
